QUARTER FINAL WILL BE 2 PART: written(see below) and a self portrait.
SELF PORTRAIT CAN BE DONE IN ONE OF THREE WAYS: TRADITIONAL BY LOOKING INTO A MIRROR OR YOU CAN USE THE FOLLOWING WAY; A COMBINATION OF THE TWO. IT WILL BE WORTH 100 POINTS PART OF THE POINTS WILL BE BASED ON SELF EVALUATION.
Materials: Graphite, erasers, 12” by 18” white drawing paper
Objectives: The student will learn to express themselves as an individual through visual communication
Info.: What is a self portrait? Images of artist that they create themselves. At times symbols can be used to create meaning in an image. Think of objects that might be seen as a symbol of part of their personality, for example, a paintbrush for someone who likes to make artwork. The students will then be told that they are to create a self portrait using only symbols or objects that represent them. This is a non-traditional self portrait. Look at examples above. Do you think these examples are successful or not? Think about why or why not and think about how you can make yours successful. If there are things that you think identify you that are not school appropriate I urge you to try to exclude those and think of other things that identify you. Ask those close to you what they think identifies you. Think of thinks that define your character.
WRITTEN TEST WILL INCLUDE: The definition of what art is as defined in the text and your personal thoughts; the five basic component perceptual skills; the elements or art and their definitions; the six basic shading techniques and the below diagram.
